2d + 3d = This

This week someone from the 3d side of the course was paired with someone from the 2d side.

I got paired up with the very talented Edwin...urm...i don't think i know what his second name is. Anyways, we got given a piece of lip-sync and we had to come up with a scene based of that.

So here it is, and like always, I’d like to know what you think?

hey timbo, these designs are showing your progression, good job. to answer your question, i did it very spaced out over time because i was busy preparing my disney portfolio. i probably spent about one 5 hour classes thumbnailing, one or two classes roughing, and the tied down completed stuff you see took about three or four whole days of work. a LOT of drawings got chucked. the character design evolved over time, and tons of drawings chucked there too, but getting him that solid took me like two weeks. i wanted to have a good model sheet to go off of like matt suggests, whiich was SO importatn. that was AFTER i already designed him twice before for my previous animations of him, which i scrapped. i dont really know how long that is totaled...if you compressed it all togehter, maybe three weeks? i dont know. anyway, you should try it sometime, its rad. i suggest tho that you dont rush things. take your time. cuz character design is VERY important...understand him in all dimensions before you attempt to move him. and remember that more than half of my time was spent planning the acting and breaking down motion charts. good luck bro.-tim
